A brief introduction to The English Writer

The English Writer is me, Andy Gayler. I qualified as an English language teacher in Australia in the 1990s and spent five years teaching in Asia and the UK before training to be a journalist. I then worked in British newspapers for the next five years before taking a position as a copywriter in a large international corporation. From there I moved to the world-renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSHCC), London, to run its monthly magazine and write fundraising copy for the charity. Since leaving GOSHCC in 2010, and the UK, I have been working as a freelance writer. Not only have I worked as a freelancer for a number of large organisations, I’ve also enjoyed assignments that took me to Kashmir, India, and to Indonesia, and I frequently write about my own adopted region of Japan.
